my brother, it's always been my brother. It never ceases to amaze me how cruel people can be to someone who's different. He's faced so many roadblocks: bullies, hate crimes, low expectations, ignorance, his disability, etc...and even in the face of all that he's held extremely high expectations for himself and pushed to break barriers to be successful.

I'm definately more of an introvert with extrovert moments. I kinda keep to myself and I'm not afraid to be alone. I'm really quiet and kind of shy until I get to know people better. Thats when I come out of my shell and become more approachable.

listener. I love listening to people and what they have to say. I'm not afraid to speak up if I have an opinion about something though. I just wait until I have something meaningful to say. Unless I'm pissed off, then I just start saying whatever. haha :)

Autumn, I dont know what it is but its almost like there's a certain magic and even the very air feels charged. That and there's pretty colors everywhere and Halloween (which is my favorite holiday).

I have a wicked scar on my left arm from this beyotch in 2nd grade. One above my right eyebrow from a chemical burn, dont ask. A surgical scar on my right foot and right hand, a burn scar on my right forearm from the oven, a long scar down the side of my right forearm from falling on the treadmill (haha), a few on my knees from being so coltish in my younger years, and a few others that are a little personal. I sound like I was put the ringer dont I?

well, right now I'm a student. I'm in college studing to be a nurse and getting my ass kicked at it. I think the nursing program has to be one of the hardest to pass -- and understandably so.

I've been thinking about that all day, how do you stop being boring? How can you throw some excitement back into your life on limited resources (Arizona) and limited funds (part time salary)? I've been sitting here wondering for the past couple days how my life became so narrow. To the point where the biggest news I could share in a good, long while was piercing my ears a few times.
It's depressing, I used to be so much more fun than this. I've become way too responsible, too cautious, too solitary, too dependant. I want to have fun again, I want to know how I can spice up my summer.

I feel horrible for not updating a while, but I have been... a hot mess. I think it was just one thing after another, after another, after another. To be honest, I'm sitting back looking at everything that's been going on in my life recently and asking "why?". Why am I stressing over school? Why is school even so important to me at the moment when there are more important things to worry about. Why do I keep pushing myself to the brink of exhaustion? Why do I work until I collapse into bed at night? Why am I not happy with the way anything is going right now? Why? Why? Why?

There was the accident, then my dad had to get a new car because the other was totalled. He only had one payment left and the insurance company refuses to make up the difference. So he only got around 12 grand for a 40 grand car and had to make up the difference on the new car out of his own pocket. Which put him back into debt by around 20-25 grand after he spent the past 5-10 years trying to get OUT of debt (which he would have been completely if the accident hadnt happened).

Then my uncle got laid off at BofA back in New Mexico because they outsourced his position (and around 600 other positions) to India after 20 years of dedicated servitude. He also has hundreds of dollars of debt he has to pay off because of this whole fucked up situation with my cousin and her ex-husband who basically beat and killed their 9 month old son, and put her and his twin in the hospital. My uncle is paying off the medical bills, funeral costs, lawyer and court fees but it adds up and he cant pay all of that and still pay a mortgage and other bills. Since he's family my dad and their other brothers are helping him out by sending money every month.

Then my car got, not one, but two flat tires at work today. I walked out after I got off and that was basically when the floodgates opened up. I cant lift the high chairs or pull/push tables together at work because of my ribs and because I host, thats what I have to do. No one helped out, I got yelled at and written up because I (nicely) asked a big, strapping, muscular man that I was seating if he could help me carry the high chair. I explained the situation and was more than happy to help, but my manager saw and pulled me off into some dark corner and "explained" to me how NOT okay that was then wrote me up. Then I saw my car and I bawled for a good 20 minutes on the curb next to my car while I waited for the guy from AAA to show up.

My life recently has not been fun, at all. I'm alive, but that's as good as it gets.

This picture speaks volumes to me... I've always wondered why man could never co-exist with Nature, why man always felt the need to dominate instead of respect. I dont understand it because there's never going to be a winner, all mankind is going to do is lose. I get emails every day from Greenpeace and other groups about the destruction of this and the extinction of that. It's depressing, mankind is heading down a path that, after a certain point, they cant turn back from. I found this amazing little site off Design*Sponge today where they sell eco-friendly stationary. I know it's a world of texts and emails, but I enjoy a handwritten letter here and there. I think it's more personal and intimate, a good handwritten letter is an extension of yourself. Or, atleast, thats what I believe...You're better able to express your personality with stationary than with emails and texts.

So, for me personally (and anyone else who shares the same opinion), this site is a treasure trove. They even do wedding invitations, just sayin...

I was browsing for bedroom interiors just to get some ideas to inspire me to re-do my own bedroom and I stumbled across these photos from Home Interiors Zone. I have more of a naturalistic and minimalist view that leans more towards the softer side with a few well chosen antique pieces and jewel/earth tones, but I couldnt help but admire the creativity of whom ever designed these rooms.

This particular photo really got to me. I think it was partially because I was listening to Beyonce's, "Smash Into You" the same time I saw it. Also, partially because my biological clock started ticking with a viciousness that made everything seize up for a minute. This particular minute seemed to last for an eternity, but a minute nontheless. It really scared me because, God, I'm only 21. This photograph just intensified that feeling 10 fold and created an extremely bittersweet moment.
I actually "borrowed" this photo from seher's shenanigans, so kudos to her for finding it. Seriously, as much as the emotions it stirs in me are a little hard to swallow, it is truly a beautiful photograph. I dont think many men out there now-a-days truly appreciate the true beauty of a woman (pregnant or not). Women are all curves, full of Life and compassion, inner strength and resilience...all guys tend to see now are Boobs, Butt, and Body. Its pretty sad, actually.

1. I'm addicted to diet coke. It didnt stunt my growth, it hasnt given me cancer...yet, my teeth arent stained yellow, and I'm not fat. So I dont care about whatever excuses other people have for not drinking it, I'm still going to.

2. I like animals more than humans. I think humans are cruel, destructive, and uncaring of anything outside humanity. Ofcourse there are those few exceptions but aside from those particular people, I'm kind of disgusted with humanity as a whole.

3. I think my brother is one of the most amazing people I have ever met. He's gone through so much: prejudice, discrimination, low expectations, etc. . Yet he's pushed through and come out ahead.

4. I really hate rap, and what gets me most is white people from the suburbs thinking they're gangster and know Lil' Wayne's life. You dont, and ps: you're not a rockstar... get over yourself.

5. I dont understand the point of video games, I think they're boring and waste of time. Read a book, unlike a video game, it actually makes you smarter.

6. I have this thing called the BRCA gene, it means that I have a 60-80% chance of developing ovarian or breast cancer. My maternal and paternal grandmothers died of breast cancer.

7. I read 3-5 books a week, I'm a little addicted.

8. I'm a very quiet person and more than a little shy so I dont open up easily to people. Everyone usually mistakes my being shy for snobbery but thats not my deal. I'm not a superficial person and I really want to get to know people. So if anyone ever wonders why I'm snobby, maybe its because you never took the time to see beyond anything else.

9. I became really disgusted with a few people when a particular person thought it was funny her friend fucked some guy in the bed next to me while I was so sick I was having seizures and should have gone to the hospital.

10. A lot of people dont know this but, I have a really big problem with authority figures. I'm a closet "rage against the Man" kind of person. It ranges from resenting people who tell me what I can or cant do to having lost all faith in our government.

11. I have such a passion for art, history, architecture, design...anything that has or can create beautiful works of art.

12. I use sarcasm and indifference as a defense mechanism.

13. I am a hopeless romantic.

14. My mom admitted to me last year that my parents thought I was autistic when I was younger. I looked up symptoms of autism and many of my subconscious habits are dead on. I've become very neurotic about the entire thing.

15. One of my biggest fears is that I'm going to end up manic since it's a hereditary trait in my family. Because of that, I feel like I cant be too happy or too sad at one time... and when I do I get really scared.

22. I'm pagan, and even more specific than that, I'm an initiated witch. I dont believe in the devil or satanism or any of that crap. I've been called every name in the book and I think people who believe being a witch or a pagan is satanic or devil worship are ignorant and dumb. Damn me to hell all you like, I dont believe in it.

23. I'm addicted to perfumes, I have around 15 bottles and they all cost me a pretty penny.

Word on the wire is that newly inaugurated President Obama and his wife, First Lady Michelle, selected Michael Smith to be the newest decorator of 1600 W. Pennsylvania Ave. Decorating the almost cavernous 55,000 square feet of the White House is daunting to any designer, but we have faith in Mr. Smith as he his renowned for turning almost awkward spaces into something comfortable, intimate, elegant, and functional. Like the new presidential family, their palatial rooms should be a breath of fresh air.

Witches and Androgyny?

Now, I was laying in bed with my laptop thinking of something to do (procrastinating more like) before I had to haul my ass out of bed and get ready for work. I came across The Sartorialist's blog because I'm a fashion addict, admittedly, and saw these two outfits. Both of which I'd definately wear because they're fashionable, for one, and just a wee bit quirky. You'll see what I mean...

The last one is most certainly a guy's "ensemble", but cant you see where a girl could take his place? It's borderline masculine/feminine. The only thing necessary to push it right over the edge is a woman in place of the man. Also maybe a minor adjustment to the shoes, but really... Can't you see where I'm headed here?

The first, I'm in love with because of the colors, textures and creative genius behind it all. The striped mustard and chocolate brown tights give it a "witchy" aura which, to me, is something so wonderfully perfect for not only an autumn colored ensemble but an autumnal outfit period.

I was so excited I got to see some snow this winter. It, in all seriousness, has been way too long. The good thing about Arizona is you can live in the valley and it be a sunny 66 degrees, then drive 2 hours north and have it be a sunny 36 degrees with 3-4 feet of snow in some places.

I just got home from work an hour ago and I was brushing my teeth. No one else was home and I heard someone whistling a jaunty tune. I say "jaunty" because there were actual notes to it, not just wind somehow sounding reminiscent of an irish jig or something, but an actual tune.

I got my hair cut the other day, haha I almost cried (again). But the hair stylist Devon was fantastic and did an amazing job. He's my new best friend, mhm.

On another note, I took Bex's helpful opinion and started the process of purchasing the Audrey bed set I had mentioned earlier. I got a few of the sheets the other day and they are absolutely fabulous! Slowly but surely I'll be amassing the entire collection. The entire set is around $600 I think. So yeah, its definately going to be "slowly but surely".
